American theatre agent and author of several theatre, film and TV screenplays, who has nevertheless received most praise for his crime novels. Baxt’s relatives, too, had different opinions about him: according to them, he was hard to get on with and could say nasty things, but he also loved children, was humorous and always remembered birthdays. He was never married.
