Berger, John

The English author and artist John Berger was born in a middle-class home in Stoke Newington, London. His father, S.J.D. Berger, was an infantry officer who served in the First World War. His mother’s maiden name was Miriam Branson. Berger describes the years he boarded at St Edward’s School, Oxford as an unhappy time in his life.
