The British author Thomas Michael Bond was born in Newbury, Berkshire, England. He attended Presentation College, Reading. During the war he served first in the Royal Air Force and then in the British Army. His writing career began in 1945 when his first short story was printed in the London Opinion, and he continued to write short stories and plays while working as a cameraman at the BBC. Bond started to write full-time in 1967. He was awarded an O.B.E in 1997. Bond lived in London.
