Burke, J.C.

J.C. Burke is an Australian author and nurse. Jane Burke was born in Sydney as the fourth of five sisters. Both her parents were journalists, and they encouraged their daughters’ literary and cultural interests. When Jane was nineteen years old, her mother died after a ten-year struggle with breast cancer. As a result, Jane trained as a nurse at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, specialising in oncology. She then worked in healthcare – for example at University College Hospital, London – in the late 1990s.
