Camilleri, Andrea

Italian author and theatre/film producer, born in the industrial town Porto Empedocle in Agrigento province on the south coast of Sicily. He came from a culturally interested family – he says himself that his paternal grandfather was a good friend with Luigi Pirandello among others – and even in his youth was a large consumer of literature, which is clearly visible in his own works, as is his interest in Sicily, its history and people.
