Nick Carter – originally Nicholas Carter – is a collective pseudonym for a large number of authors, all of whom wrote stories about the master detective – later agent – Nick Carter. The stories were published in various series of ‘dime novels’ and pulp magazines, later also as cheap paperbacks, in the USA and a row of other countries, including Sweden. Here ‘Nick Carter literature’ became a collective term for all types of simple literature for entertainment published in cheap magazines and books.
