Chambers, Aidan

British author of books for children and young adults born north of Durham, near the town of Chester-le-Street. His father was a skilled woodworker , his mother looked after the household and many of his male relatives were coal miners . Aidan was an only child brought up in a house with only five books: a bible, a dictionary, a book on house construction, a gardening book and a copy of Aesop's Fables.
