Lee Child is the pen name of the British author and television producer Jim Grant. He was born in Coventry as one of four brothers. When he was four years old, the family moved to Handsworth Wood, Birmingham, so the brothers were able to attend Orchard Primary School. When Jim was eleven years old he won a scholarship to King Edward’s School, after which he read law at the University of Sheffield, graduating in 1977. He married his wife Jane, an American fellow student, in 1975.
