Country/Region:
United Kingdom
Born:
July 7, 1955

Miscellaneous prose, Crime literature
Although he has written nearly twenty crime novels, plus a couple of collections of short stories in the same genre, British author, solicitor, editor and literary historian Martin Edwards is probably best known for his non-fiction books on the genre, and for the anthologies he has compiled. He is considered one of the leading British authorities on classical crime literature, especially on works dating from what is often called "the golden age". Hence, he has received numerous awards, among them the much-coveted Diamond Dagger from the Crime Writers’ Associations (CWA). In 2015, he was elected president of the venerable Detection Club, a post previously held by persons such as G.K. Chesterton, Dorothy L. Sayers, Agatha Christie and Julian Symons.
