Jasper Fforde is a British author. He grew up in London and Wales. His father was an economist who was Chief Cashier of the Bank of England in 1966–70. His mother, who was involved in different charities, passed on her great love of books to her children. Jasper Fforde was enrolled at the progressive boarding school Dartington Hall School in Totnes, Devon, at the age of twelve. Even though he did not enjoy school much, he graduated in 1979 and then worked in film and television, an area he had been fascinated with since childhood.
