Jonas Gardell was born and grew up in the garden suburb of Enebyberg outside Stockholm. Both of his parents were psychologists, his mother Ingegärd and his father Bertil Gardell, who was also a respected professor of Social Psychology at Stockholm University 1977-87. His parents divorced in 1982.
