The American author A.K. (Anna Katharine) Green pioneered the crime writing genre, and many of her novels have been translated to foreign languages. She was also among the first women publish write crime novels and the first to publish large editions. Her debut novel, The Leavenworth Case (1878), is a classic and estimated to be one of the major bestsellers of all time. New editions have appeared well into the 21st century. The twenty-seven volumes of the Collected Works of A.K. Green started to come out in 2007.
