The Swedish crime writer Anna Jansson was born in Visby on the island of Gotland. In 1979, she moved to Örebro where she attended nursing college. She has recounted that she couldn’t stand the sight of blood, so for the next twenty-five years she worked in the hospital’s lung department. She still lives in Örebro, although she spent a great deal of time writing in nearby Vintrosa and she has a second home in Visby. Gotland is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and her books are often set there. Jansson is an immensely successful author: her much-acclaimed books have been translated to some fifteen languages.
