Keneally, Thomas

The novelist and non-fiction writer Thomas ‘Tom’ Keneally descends from a family of Irish prisoners that were deported to Australia in the 19th century. He is one of Australia’s best-known literary figures, and has written a large number of novels and non-fiction works. He gained international fame with his dramatized biography of Oskar Schindler, the Nazi who was friendly to Jews, Schindler’s Ark, later turned into a film by Steven Spielberg and also published in book form as Schindler’s List. Like many of Keneally’s other books – fiction as well as non-fiction – it was nominated for a number of prizes, and won several of them.
