Milne, A.A.

English writer, poet and journalist who became world famous for having created one of the most beloved figures in children’s books: Winnie-the-Pooh (Nalle Puh in Swedish). A.A. (Alan Alexander) Milne was born in London, where he grew up and started his schooling at Westminster School 1893–1900. He continued at Trinity College in Cambridge where he was the editor of the student magazine Granta in 1902, and gained a degree in Mathematics in 1903. He then returned to London, determined to become an author, and started to write for the magazine Punch, for which he was also the deputy editor 1906-14.
