Oppenheim, E. Phillips

The British author E. (Edward) Phillips Oppenheim achieved great international successes during the first half of the 20th century, and was called ‘the prince of story-tellers’. He wrote in several popular-literature genres, mainly spy and crime stories, but also science fiction, adventure stories and romance. He was born in London, but grew up in the city of Leicester where his father ran a leather company. The boy attended Wyggeston Grammar School in the city until he was 16 years old, when his father decided that he should start working in the family company.
