Amos Oz is the pseudonym of the Israeli novelist Amos Klausner. He was born in Jerusalem to Yehuda Arieh Klausner, a scholar and librarian from Lithuania, and Fania Mussmann whose father owned a mill at Równe in Poland (now Rivne, Ukraine) and moved with his family to Haifa in 1934. Amos Oz parents met as students at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
