Spanish author born in Cartagena in the south-eastern part of the country. Between 1973 and 1994, Pérez-Reverte worked as a war correspondent and reported from most of the then on-going armed conflicts in Europe, Africa and Latin America for Spanish media. He is now a full-time novelist and journalist. He has been a columnist for XLSemanal – a Sunday supplement distributed with a number of Spanish newspapers and on the Internet – since 1991 and has published several collections of articles in book form. He has been a member of the Royal Spanish Academy since 2003.
