Richmond, Michelle

The American author, publisher and teacher, Michelle Richmond was born as one of three sisters in Demopolis, Alabama, but she grew up in Mobile in the same state, where she started her schooling. Her school years were difficult: she left Mobile Christian School after being beaten with a cane(!) by a teacher, while another school had such a shortage of funding that they couldn’t afford toilet paper – the pupils had to take some with them from home.
