Georges Joseph Christian Simenon was a Belgian author. He was born to Catholic middle-class parents in Liège. Georges Simenon is considered among the foremost and most popular French-speaking authors of the 20th century. He was extremely prolific. His exact output is unknown, but estimates suggest that he wrote between 200 and 300 novels, over a thousand short stories as well as innumerable articles of which only a few have been included in anthologies.
