The Danish author Pia Tafdrup was born in Copenhagen, grew up in the countryside on North Jutland and later attended the University of Copenhagen. Pia Tafdrup's books have been translated to some thirty languages. In 1999, the poetry collection Queen's Gate was awarded the Nordic Council Literature Prize, and in 2006 Tafdrup received the Swedish Academy Nordic prize for life achievement. Pia Tafdrup lives in Copenhagen.
