Uhnak, Dorothy

Dorothy Uhnak was an American detective and creator of police procedural fiction. She was born Dorothy Goldstein in the Bronx, New York, where she lived all her life. Her father was a projectionist who occasionally cooperated with the police when they needed to consult a movie expert. His daughter became fascinated with police procedure and soon became a fixture at the local precinct where she ran errands and was given simple administrative tasks.
