Wolff, Tobias

Tobias Jonathan Ansell Wolff is an American author. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up in the North Cascade Mountains, Washington. His father was an aeronautical engineer and his mother a secretary and waitress. Wolff attended Hertford College, Oxford, and graduated with a Master of Arts from Stanford University in 1977. He worked as a reporter at The Washington Post for a period. Later he became a Professor in English and creative writing at Stanford. He has been married to Catherine Dolores Spohn since 1975. They have three children.
